Worsening varsity loss margins during 2026 season

Ayala’s varsity results through six games were Summit 26 to 0, South Hills 21 to 17, Chino 19 to 14, Citrus Valley 35 to 0, Chino Hills 42 to 7, and Charter Oak 51 to 3. The loss margins were therefore 26, 4, 5, 35, 35, and 48 points. The sequence is not a steady week by week decline because Weeks 1 and 2 were closer games, but the most recent three losses widened sharply to 35, 35, and 48 points.

What the evidence proves

Documents a measurable late September to early October deterioration in game competitiveness and supports scrutiny of preparation, player availability, and program management.

What it does not prove

The loss margins do not establish why results worsened or that coaching alone caused the change.

What is still missing

Additional context such as injuries, player availability, opponent strength, turnovers, and game statistics is needed before attributing the widening margins to coaching or preparation alone.

Student impact

Widening loss margins provide context for player experience and program performance.
